Kaz Might Disappear from Western Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes' Cover due to Peace Walker's Poor Sales

The beautiful Japanese cover art of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (that you can see in its entirety at the bottom of the post) features Snake and Kazuhira “Kaz” Miller, but the western version of the artwork could see Kaz removed, as Director Hideo Kojima said himself in an interview on the Japanese website Game Spark.

Kojima-san mentioned that Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (that featured Kaz prominently) was very popular in Japan, and since he loves Kaz and the audience of Peace Walker now represents a large part of the user base of the franchise, he included him on the cover of Ground Zeroes.

Unfortunately Peace Walker sold poorly in the west, despite being included in the HD collection, so Kaz might be removed and the cover could feature Snake by himself in order to avoid people thinking “who is this dude?”

Personally, I feel it’d be a pity if Kaz were to be removed from the cover, that looks great in its current incarnation. What do you think? Should they keep Kaz for the west as well, or maybe you prefer to have the focus just on Snake?
