Ember Lab revealed Kena: Bridge of Spirits during the Sony PS5 "the future of gaming" reveal today. Kena: Bridge of Spirits is coming to PS5 and PS4 in the holiday season. It's a timed console exclusive and will come later on to PC. Kena is a story driven, action adventure game, mixing a 3D  animation style with a rich and fantasy atmosphere.

In this new IP, titular protagonist Kena embarks on a journey of self-discovery as she tries to restore the balance of an ancient village in a once-thriving environment. Kena is a Spirit Guide and a staff wielder. With the help of tiny companions known as Rot, She will "disarm", not kill, her enemies, unlock new skills, uncover secrets, and recover the beauty of the village and land.

Ember Lab, the studio behind Kena: Bridge of Spirits, was formed in 2009. It's an indie studio made of artists who in the past worked on animated commercials for Coca-Cola, Major League Baseball, and Hisense. This explains why Kena has an incredibly beautiful 3DCG animation feel to it. Kena's facial expressions are incredibly vivid and cute as well.

Ember Lab is most notably known for the Majora's Mask - Terrible Fate Zelda short fan film released in 2016. Ember Lab also released an original sci-fi/fantasy short film titled Dust.

Kena can build deeper bonds with her Rot companions to unlock new abilities. Kena: Bridge of Spirits will also make full use of the PlayStation 5 Dualsense controller and its haptic feedback rumbles. One example is how it simulates the string resistance of Kena's Spirit Bow.

Mike Grier, chief creative officer of Ember Lab, explained: “We’ve had this game concept for some time, and we’re finally able to bring our vision to life with the support from Sony and the capabilities of the new hardware. We want Kena: Bridge of Spirits to immerse the player in a detailed, fantastical world that feels real.”

Personally speaking, Kena: Bridge of Spirits is the game, which we've seen actual gameplay of, that piqued my interest the most on the PS5 reveal, and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more.
