The Marvel boss has already spoke about a Shang-Chi successor.
Simu Liu is paving the way for a more inclusive Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, by headlining the latest Marvel theater release, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Fans have only had a day to learn the lore of the MCU’s first Asian superhero, and Marvel president Kevin Feige has already been discussing the prospect of a sequel. Every superhero within the MCU is guaranteed to have at least two, stand-alone films in the pipeline, and we highlight how Feige feels about taking these new characters forward.

Kevin Feige Talks Shang-Chi 2
Speaking to ComicBook.com, Feige mentioned his emotional paradox when it comes to a feature release starring an entirely new block of characters. “I’m always confident and nervous in equal proportions,” Feige admitted when referencing the inclusion of these characters in the MCU’s future.
Feige spoke about the way he gauges a film’s success, narrowing it down to how the fans react to the supporting characters as well as the main superhero. Early reviews from fans and professionals have given Feige “great hope” in seeing the characters from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings continue to flourish within the MCU.
“We certainly have many ideas of where to take them and where to put them,” Feige continued, alluding to the fact that the team already has plans for a sequel. The Marvel boss also added how “heartening” it was to see fans’ appreciation for these new characters, because the Marvel team believe they are “spectacular” with “great potential” to fill out future MCU phases.
What Could Be Next for Shang-Chi?
Within the same report, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton revealed that there was one particular setting that he was unable to include in this film. Cretton withheld which setting he was referencing because he hoped that it could be implemented within the sequel.
There’s no denying the rogues’ gallery of villains that Shang-Chi faces in Marvel Comics, promising an action-packed future full of iconic adversaries to stand against the Master of Kung-Fu. Additionally, the MCU is preparing to crack the multiverse wide open, which offers an incomprehensible amount of options for character and plot progression. Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness are the upcoming features with the keys to the kingdom (or multiverse in this context) and only time will tell what the cosmos has in store for Shang-Chi.
