Sony revealed on the  PlayStation Blog that Killzone: Mercenary will release on September 10th, a week earlier than its previously announced September 17th debut.

While Sony did not reveal a reason to why it bumped up the release date, one can speculate it has to do with Grand Theft Auto 5 coming out on September 17th to be the reason.

In addition to this news, Sony has revealed pre-order incentives for KillZone: Mercenary including a 48-hour double XP boost, which spans all in-game contracts, bonuses and payout. It was also announced, additional in-game cash at the outset and a pre-order exclusive machine gun, the M224-A1.

The first-person shooter game for the PlayStation Vita is the first game in the series not to be developed directly by Guerilla Games but by Guerilla Cambridge. It is also the second hand-held titles in the Killzone series and the fifth overall.
