Killzone Shadow Fall’s Intercept Expansion DLC Adds Online Co-Op
Since it was released, fans of Guerrilla Games’ Killzone Shadow Fall have asked for some form of co-op. Today, the studio has announced that they will indeed be releasing an online co-op expansion. This expansion adds four new maps which were inspired by the single player campaign and adds a whole new way to play Shadow Fall with friends.
According to Guerrilla Games Producer Poria Torkan:
Killzone Shadow Fall Intercept places you and up to three of your friends on the elite VSA team known as Intelligence Squad Alpha. Operating behind enemy lines, your team is on a mission to intercept and relay Helghast military transmissions back to VSA headquarters.
Players will have to keep Helghan interlopers at a distance so that they can hack and transmit the data.
A team is comprised of: Assault, Marksman, Medic and Tactician. They must work together as a team in order to succeed. There will be a team score which will indicate how close you are to establishing an uplink. The score goes up by defending uplinks from being captured or by “banking” your personal score. You can earn bonuses from artillery strikes and jetpacks. Points can be lost if Helghan forces capture an uplink or if team members suffer critical injuries.
Enemies will be A.I. controlled. Their tactics and behaviors will change whenever they capture an uplink so players will have to be on top of that and change their strategy accordingly. Special “champions” will be called upon by the Helghan periodically. These will be characters from the single player portion of the game.
Killzone Shadow Fall: Intercept will be available in June.
