Soon after the official press release revealing new screenshots for Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba Hinokami Keppuutan, a certain misunderstanding was clearly visible among fans, regarding the game's battle system.

As such, CyberConnect2 explained on Twitter the battle system of Kimetsu no Yaiba Hinokami Keppuutan.

Hiroshi Matsuyama, CEO of CyberConnect2, explained there are no 2 Vs 2 battles in Kimetsu no Yaiba Hinokami Keppuutan. He also confirmed there is no four player multiplayer in the game. Be it offline or online.

Here's our translation of Matsuyama's tweets:

Hiroshi Matsuyama : "I'm saying this just in case, but you pick two characters you like, but switch between them during battle. This is a 1 Vs 1 battle action game. The story mode has many 1 Vs 1 situations like in the original manga and anime."

In the following tweet, Matsuyama adds:

Hiroshi Matsuyama : "So yeah, it's definitely not simultaneous 2 Vs 2 battles. And there is no four player multiplayer. It's a 1 Vs 1 game."

Moreover, thinking about it, the term Tag Battle is definitely used this way in gaming and Japanese games. It all makes sense now. Be it the iconic Tag Battle mode of the Dead or Alive series, which sadly isn't included in Dead or Alive 6. Or the Tekken Tag Tournament games. It always has been about picking two characters, but switching between the two during battle. Instead of four characters fighting simultaneously.

As a reminder, more details on the game, probably accompanied by one or two screenshots, will be included in next week's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. We should be getting leaks before the week ends, so we'll be sure to share anything newsworthy.
