The King of Fighters developer SNK announced today The King of Fighters World, a mobile MMORPG for iOS and Android based on the popular fighting game saga.

The game will launch this summer in China, but the company plans to expand towards a worldwide release. As you might expect, it’ll be free to play with optional purchases.

The game will come with a full fledged 3D engine, and will prompt players to progress through a map fully rendered in 3D graphics. Popular The King of Fighters characters will appear as part of a “deep story” that will involve both fighting and solving mysteries.

According to the announcement, the game will allow players to “freely experience the world of The King of Fighters.”
