Square Enix has released several new screenshots for Kingdom Hearts III, an action-RPG that is allegedly still releasing sometime soon. While previous trailers and image batches have focused on new Disney stories, we are instead shown some familiar locations, mainly the original world of Twilight Town. Those who still remember Kingdom Hearts II from all the way back in 2006 will remember the crew of Hayner, Pence, and Olette from Twilight Town, being the virtual friends of Roxas in his simulated version of the area, with Sora and buddies meeting the real ones later in the game. A tweet from the official Kingdom Hearts Twitter account hints at a part in the story for Roxas, who apparently needs "help."From my personal recollection of the franchise's lore, I remember Roxas re-merging with Sora at the end of II, but I vaguely remember some hullabaloo from Dream Drop Distance about Seven Lights and 13 Darknesses, and I'd assume that Roxas is somehow involved in the plot to gather these forces—at least, that's what I think. He's on the box art, so his return shouldn't be too much of a surprise. As for the new screenshots of Olympus, it's nice to see another facet of the world of Hercules—the first game took us to a Coliseum, while the second brought players deeper into the Underworld. This time, we're going the opposite direction upwards to the land of the gods—probably thanks to better graphics technology. Tate Donovan will reprise his voice role as Hercules in the game.To me, seeing old faces like Roxas and Ienzo is a wake-up call to catch up on my Kingdom Hearts lore—Square Enix released story videos that hopefully assist in that. Kingdom Hearts III will release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 29, 2019 (probably), with a compilation to release on October 30 for PS4.
