Nintendo has confirmed the release of a brand new Kirby game, titled 'Kirby's Dream Buffet', coming exclusively to the Nintendo Switch this summer.

Last summer has been a very lonely one for Nintendo fans without Kirby. Therefore, Nintendo has been very kind to grace us this year with not just one but two Kirby games. 'Kirby Star Allies' last march, which quickly became the highest-selling entry since the series's debut, and the just-announced 'Kirby's Dream Buffet', a magical fun dream full of food, fluff, and everything sweet.

According to the Nintendo Eshop page, all the stages in Kirby's Dream Buffet will be themed around food, as made apparent from the trailer and the name of the game. Four players will be able to race together through many obstacle courses and collect strawberries in preparation for the final battle that settles everything. It seems like it will be a combination of Mario Kart and Smash Bros, combining both fighting sections and racing sections respectively.

As made evident in the new announcement trailer, Kirby's Dream Buffet will include at least 5 stages with unique themes, such as ice cream and kitchenware. Kirby will also be able to acquire many power-ups and transformations to help collect strawberries faster, and interfere with the competition. In addition, the racing circuits appear to have enough directional variety both horizontally and vertically, as the goal is collecting strawberries and not finishing the lap within a certain time limit.

Unfortunately, Nintendo has not confirmed an exact release date for the new Kirby title. Instead, a release window of 'Summer 2022' was targeted. There's also currently no word on pricing.

Kirby’s Dream Buffet Kirby Wins the Competition

Kirby's Dream Buffet comes as a wonderful addition to the ever-growing library of Kirby games on Nintendo Switch, including Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Kirby Star Allies, Kirby Fighters 2, and Super Kirby Clash. We also shouldn't forget to mention that subscribing to Nintendo Switch Online does not only allow you to play the game with your friends, but enjoy 4 other classic Kirby titles: Kirby's Adventure, Kirby's Dream Course, Kirby's Dreamland 3 and Kirby Super Star.

It seems Nintendo is gearing up this summer for what it does the best. Not powerful and high-budget exclusives, and also not gigantic studio acquisitions, but as usual they focus on their familiar brand of fun. With Splatoon 3 coming up also later this year, the Nintendo Switch is set to become one of the serious competitors in the gaming world in terms of multiplayer support and having a blast with friends and family, anywhere and anytime.
