Final Fantasy XIII-2 producer Yoshinori Kitase has let slip several hints that future downloadable content for the game will be story-driven.

In a video posted on the Square Enix blog, Kitase confirmed that more DLC is indeed coming. “There is more DLC items coming that we’ll reveal when the time is appropriate,” he said. “We’re not just planning boss battles or costumes but also planning episodic DLC items that will hopefully expand on the universe and the gameplay for Final Fantasy XIII-2.”

Yesterday a leak from Famitsu claimed that Square Enix would “secret story” DLC missions. There is a huge possibility that these episodes will focus on Lighting, as protagonists Noel and Serah have taken center stage for XIII’s sequel.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 will release next week, January 31, for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
