A Knights of the Old Republic Title Is Reportedly Being Developed ‘Outside of EA’
According to multiple sources, a new Knights of the Old Republic title is being developed by a developer outside of the publisher EA.
The rumored Knights of the Old Republic title is reportedly being developed outside of EA.
In a recent podcast, Star Wars insider Bespin Bulletin stated that a new game in the series is being developed by an unnamed developer.
Last year, Knights of the Old Republic was rumored to be making a comeback in the form of a remake. The RPG is widely considered to be not only one of the greatest Star Wars titles ever made but also to be one of the greatest RPGs ever created. A remake or new entry into the series would definitely be met with open arms.
With that said, this is the first time it has been suggested that a remake or new entry would be developed outside of BioWare, its original developer, and EA. Lucasfilm just announced earlier this month that the Star Wars license would be making its way to other companies. One of those first companies was Ubisoft, which announced that it would be developing an open-world title in the Star Wars universe. According to Bespin Bulletin, Knights of the Old Republic will also be making its way to a developer outside of EA.
On top of that, Jason Schreier from Bloomberg noted that this new game is being developed from somewhere unexpected.
Bespin Bulletin stated: “Amongst my digging, I heard there is a Knights of the Old Republic project in development somewhere. I talked to a couple of people, and I also found out that Jason Schreier said that it’s not with EA, and we’ll ‘never guess’ who the studio is that’s making this game.”
BioWare released the cult classic way back in 2003. The following year, Obsidian created a sequel. There has not been a mainline Knights of the Old Republic game in about 17 years. However, you could count The Old Republic, an MMO made by EA.
