Kojima Productions Unveils New Fox Engine and Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes

To say that Metal Gear Solid 5 has been highly anticipated or that the wait for the announcement of the game has been a strenuous four years for even the most casual MGS fans would be two very gross understatements.

At their 25th Anniversary event held early this morning (for some of us), Hideo Kojima and his production company announced the next game in the MGS universe entitled, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. A demonstration was shown, and attendees were instructed not to post/tweet about what they saw, though some information was leaked anyway – apparently, the game will toy with an open-world direction. One person tweeted his experience and impressions of the demo:

Demo of “Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes”, started w cutscene (all realtime), went into gameplay, open world, night, raining, base. AMAZING,” followed by “Snake crawled @ avoiding searchlights, killed guard, rode jeep, called in heli for evac. Sounds like MG, but the scale & atmosphere… Wow.

No other additional pertinent details regarding plot or anything else – including a release window – concerning Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes have been released.
