Konami, the publisher of series such as Metal Gear, Silent Hill, Castlevania, and many more, has announced their lineup for Tokyo Game Show, which will kick off in a little over two weeks. The full schedule by Konami revealed that the company would be announcing a new game in a "beloved series".

As announced on Konami's official website (via Twitter user Nibel), September 16th will see Konami announce a brand new game in an existing series. The rough translation of the schedule reads, "as a representative of fans of a series of titles loved all over the world, voice actor Yuki Kaji will be invited as a guest on stage for the announcement of a new Konami title".

Silent Hill was previously rumored to be appearing at Tokyo Game Show, which would qualify as a new instalment in an existing series. However, according to a report by VGC, the new title is "likely to be related to a smaller project, rather than Konami's larger planned revivals for Castlevania, Silent Hill, and Metal Gear Solid". VGC's source also expressed that Castlevania is the furthest along in the development process.

The Metal Gear franchise has been left dormant ever since Hideo Kojima parted ways with Konami shortly after the release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain in 2015. Kojima was well-known as the creator of Metal Gear, but the rights to the series are owned by Konami. The fallout between the developer and publishing studio also resulted in the cancellation of Silent Hills, which quickly became a hugely anticipated title following the release of a demo known as P.T. The title was set to be helmed by Kojima and co-written by film director Guillermo del Toro, as well as star The Walking Dead actor, Norman Reedus.

Konami's full schedule for the Tokyo Game Show 2022 can be viewed on their official website, which includes titles such as eFootball 2023, Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel, and many more. Although Konami will host showcases across all four days of the Tokyo Game Show, their unannounced title will be confirmed on September 16th.
