Last week we got a lot of new information on Bungie’s upcoming “social shooter” Destiny. The info train keeps on rolling and today we’ve gotten a new developer diary which discusses some of the game’s armor, weapons and loot.
The game’s armor is something that the designers took a lot of time with. They wanted armor for higher level players to be vastly different from that of low level players. They wanted to instill a bit of jealous to encourage people to level up to unlock some of the fancier looking armor. Leveling up is done by completing missions and defeating enemies. New armors are obtained from loot drops.
Loot will be individualized. For example, if an enemy drops loot it will drop player specific ammo and equipment. This effectively eliminates loot pilfering from other players and ensures that everyone gets something.
Lastly, the game will have three weapon types. Primary weapons will have assault rifles and handguns, Specials will be shotguns and sniper rifles and Heavy will have rocket launchers and belt-fed machine guns.
Destiny will be released for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on September 9.
