EA has released a new launch trailer for FIFA 14 that delves into two new gameplay mechanics introduced to the game: Pure Shot and Real Ball Physics. FIFA 14 will be coming to PS4 and Xbox One on September 24th for North America. It will also be coming for PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii, Wii U, 3DS, PSP, PS Vita, Android and iOS.
Pure Shot has players prepare before they reach the ball and adjust their stride to get the perfect shot. This mimics how real life soccer (or football) players actually adjust themselves (if they’re right-footed the player will make sure to get a clear shot with their right foot and vice versa).
Real Ball Physics means that when players take shots, the ball will have many different trajectories and mimic certain types of shots, such as the swerving shot, dipping shot and even Gareth Bale’s famous Knuckleball shot. They also modeled the air flow around the ball to understand the turbulence that occurs when the player hits a ball with no spin.
It seems like a lot of work has gone into this year’s FIFA. Hopefully it will turn out to be successful.
