in a creepy reveal trailer launched yesterday, Bloober Team has announced Layers of Fear 2, the sequel to the 2016 first-person horror title. It's due to launch in 2019 and the developer is now working with the publisher Gun Media, known for the Friday the 13th: The Game.

The reveal trailer that can be found at the bottom of this post —as well as screenshots— goes by the name of Project Méliès, something we were aware of back in March when the developer and publisher teased the title. However the latest video ends with Project Méliès being shown on a projector screen, but then we see Layers of Fear 2 shortly after confirming the sequel.

In the trailer, there's heavy focus on film quality scenes, which if you recall the trailer for the original title, there was a large focus on paintings and the story was focused on a painter. Layers of Fear 2 will be set on a desolate ship with a heavy claustrophobic focus with ever-changing environments. The fear players feel is planned to be enhanced by using cinematography influences, ranging from experimental works by Georges Méliès and the twists and turns by Alfred Hitchcock.

We also see haunting scenes on a ship such as burning coffins, and grabby hands in a dark hallway. It's also being narrated by Tony Todd, a well-known actor behind films such as Candyman, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and more. President of Gun Media, Wes Keltner had this to say about Layers of Fear 2,

“This collaboration between Gun and Bloober team is a perfect pairing. Our collective passion for crafting memorable and terrifying experiences lines up so well, and both teams have an encyclopedic knowledge of horror. Add in the fact that the iconic Tony Todd is lending his commanding voice to this project, and I truly think we are creating a new masterpiece here.”

Additionally the CEO at Bloober Team, Piotr Babieno said,

“Revealing Layers of Fear 2 alongside the horror aficionados at Gun Media is an unprecedented moment. This partnership secures a passion for horror not yet seen on the market and puts a seal of quality on the game, to which no horror fan should remain indifferent.”

Layers of Fear 2 will be arriving in 2019, no platforms have been confirmed at this time. Below is the reveal trailer and some official screenshots.
