The west continues its dominant reign at the League of Legends World Championship 2018, with two more teams now having advanced to the final four.

In the most recent slate of games in the quarterfinal stage, North America’s final representative Cloud9 went to battle with Korea’s final squad Afreeca Freecs and the American team made quick work of things. It only took three games for Cloud9 to wrap things up and swept both Afreeca Freecs and Korea out of the tournament. This is the first time in seven years that team from the NA LCS has made semifinals. It also marks the first time since Season One that Korea will not have a representing team in the Finals.

In the second series of the day, Europe’s Fnatic took on China’s Edward Gaming. EDG came out strong in Game 1 of the series and annihilated Fnatic, but it didn’t take long for the likely tournament favorite to bounce back. Fnatic took commanding leads in the next three games of the series to eliminate EDG from Worlds and advance to the semifinals.

This Worlds continues to be insane and has provided perhaps the most upsets that we have ever seen in this annual tournament. The fact that the west has three of the final four representatives in the semifinals and Korea as a whole couldn’t make it past the quarterfinals is probably something that no one would have predicted just a few short weeks ago. Regardless of what happens in semis, a western team will have a representative in the Finals just a few weeks from now.

The semifinals stage of Worlds kicks off next weekend on October 27 at 4:00 AM EST as G2 Esports will take on Invictus Gaming. The following day on October 28 at the same time, Fnatic and Cloud9 will do battle on the Rift.
