A piece of artwork belonging to the new Battlefield was leaked on the Xbox Store (reported on NeoGAF) pretty much confirming a World War I setting for the game.

You notice the trench overcoat that I described yesterday (told you so!), a zeppelin, a Mauser C96 military pistol, a gas mask, and the real clincher, a trench club.

And this is not all. A leak from a retailer on Reddit reveals the title “Battlefield 1

It’s relevant to mention that the World War I era doesn’t necessarily mean that there won’t be any twist, or any kind of alternate history element.

That said, we can’t say that the new Battlefield won’t be quite unique, at least in its setting.

Update: a second retailer leak shows a release date on October 18th, and an “Hellfighter Pack” as pre-order bonus, including themed items inspired by the famous American 369th Infantry Regiment “Harlem Hellfighters,” that operated under French command towards the end of World War I.
