Learn How the Stryder, Ogre and Atlas Titans Were Created in a New Titanfall Video

A new video from EA features the development team at Respawn discussing how each Titan model, from the upcoming Titanfall, was created and balanced.

Titans were designed to possess a wide range of weaponry while still retaining unique characteristics and skills: Stryder is visually lighter and therefore more vulnerable than the others, but it also has the greatest agility; the Ogre is a slow moving Titan which can take a huge amount of damage; Atlas is a strong all-round Titan with decent armour and manoeuvrability; a mixture of the two other classes.

Motion-capturing for the Titans is time-consuming, as each one must have distinct movements. 3D models were built up and modified continuously until they perfectly reflect what the giant mechs should behave like. Lastly, a balance between Titans and Pilots in combat must be struck — Titans should be powerful and intimidating but Pilots should have a shot at taking them as well.
