To celebrate the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo UK held an art contest gathering tons of talented artists to create something based in or inspired by Link's Awakening. Not only did this mean traditional art but also left more room for creative entries such as puppets, videos, or other endeavors. After the contest ended, Nintendo UK finally revealed the winner of said contest on their official Twitter account. The winner submitted a unique piece that depicts linking the past with the present, by using the graphics of the original title superimposed with the updated style of the remake. And honestly it's a great piece of art and wholly deserving of its win:

Nintendo UK has also been posting runner up artworks as well on the same account and they're absolutely incredible. It really drives home the kind of amazing talent that The Legend of Zelda fanbase possesses:

If you want a more comprehensive round-up of some of the amazing works submitted to the contest, check out this video from Nintendo Life. They were also the ones who actually judged the competition, which must have been an especially difficult task:

And if you want something incredible from outside this contest, there's this incredible 3D printed recreation of Koholint Island from the game. The artist even provides a tutorial at the end of their video in case anyone else wanted to make one for themselves.

There are of course some other amazing fan works from other Zelda titles that fans have created to celebrate the franchise as a whole. Some other works include this lovely Sheikah runes phone charger, art of Twilight Princess meets Breath of the Wild, fanart of Link in the vibrant forest from Majora’s Mask, a recreation of the Breath of the Wild lantern, a bottle of Lon Lon milk from Ocarina of Time, and an alarm clock that plays A Link to the Past‘s theme.

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is out now for Nintendo Switch and our review of the title is coming soon.
