There is no doubt that 2017 was a standout year for games -- no matter if we are talking open world masterpieces like Horizon Zero Dawn and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild or indie darlings like Cuphead. And celebrating all of last year's achievements in gaming, the Game Developer Conference (GDC) Choice Awards for 2018 has revealed their picks of favorites from the year.

As compared to other notable gaming award shows, GDC's Choice Awards are unique in that if focuses on the opinions of industry people themselves. And while 2016's Game of the Year was awarded to the PvP exclusive Overwatch, the panel of developers went with something entirely different this year. Instead, Game of the Year went to the single-player intensive The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the game that also won Best Audio and Best Design.

Aside from Breath of the Wild, another notable winner of the night was StudioMDHR who pulled two awards with Cuphead for Best Visual Art and Best Debut; meanwhile, the Audience Award went to Nier: Automata. But who won all the other awards? Thankfully, DualShockers sat through all of GDC's cheesy sketches, Tim Schafer breaking his Lifetime Achievement Award mid-speech, and dorky puns of give you a direct list.
