Coming off the monstrously-successful theatrical debut of Star Wars: The Force Awakens last December, the LEGO video game series is returning to a galaxy far, far away in an adaptation of the most recent Star Wars journey this summer.
Following a leak this morning from the Xbox site, publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment officially revealed today LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, bringing together the events and characters from Episode 7 into adorable LEGO form, such as Rey, Finn, Poe, BB-8, Kylo Ren, and others.
Like previous LEGO titles from other franchises, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens will follow the path of the movie’s plot (while also adding in plentiful doses of charming humor and fun), while the title will also explore some story elements between Return of the Jedi and the events leading up to The Force Awakens.
The game will also include”brand new gameplay mechanics” for the LEGO game series such as a “Multi-Build” system where players can choose to assemble new paths and open up environments, along with “Blaster Battles,” an arena-based combat mode, and space battles/dogfights.
The title will release on nearly all major gaming platforms, while the PS4 and Xbox One editions of the title will also include an exclusive LEGO mini-figure of Finn, along with some additional DLC for the PS4 and PS3 versions of the game: the Droid Character Pack and the Phantom Limb Level Pack.
LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens will release for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, 3DS, PS Vita, and PC on June 28th, 2016 – in the meantime, you can check out the game’s first trailer below, along with several screenshots and its box art from the latest LEGO adventure:
