Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Gets a Release Date, Box Art, Several Screenshots and a Trailer; Digital Version Only on PSN

June 6, 2013

Square Enix just released a nice update on Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, that will hit the shelves in the United States on February the 11th, 2014. Japanese gamers will get to play it earlier, on November the 21st.

The game will grab $59.99 out of your wallet and will be available at retail for both PS3 and Xbox 360, but the digital version will be downloadable exclusively on the PSN.

Japan will also get a Final Fantasy XIII – Lightning Ultimate Box (portrayed below) that will include all three games of the series, a lovely Play Arts Kai figurine of Lightning herself  and a soundtrack. At the moment we don’t have any info on a possible western version of this bundle.

In addition to the announcement we get a the box art for both platforms, a large batch of screenshots, the trailer that will be shown at E3 (featuring both cutscenes and gameplay) and a making of video showing the creation of the trailer’s theme song “The Savior” by composer Naoshi Mizuta, that is currently available for download via iTunes Store.

Below you can enjoy both videos (including the Japanese version of the trailer as a bonus for those that prefer Japanese voice overs), and a gallery with all the screenshots and the box art.
