Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Will NOT Be Released on PC; Square Enix Debunks Misleading Posters

on June 9, 2013 6:23 PM

Today quite a few media outlets (including us) reported that a Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII poster on display in Los Angeles included PC between the platforms for the game.

This fueled the hopes of many PC gamers, but unfortunately those hopes are destined to be dashed.

It’s extremely unlikely for something of this scope to be just sneaked on a poster and plastered across a city’s walls without a prior announcement, and the lack of any info during the bigĀ release date reveal earlier this week made it even less realistic.

As soon as we heard about the possible hoopla, we reached out to Square Enix to ask for a clarification on the issue, and received a prompt reply from Senior Public Relations Manager David Yang:

LIGHTNING RETURNS: FINAL FANTASY XIII will be available for the PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms only. The poster ad in question erroneously indicated PC as a platform.

There you have it, straight from the lion’s mouth. It’s unfortunate, as a PC version of the game would have made quite a few fans (me included) happy. But at least now we know the sad truth.
