During the latest general Nintendo Direct, Nintendo revealed that Pokémon Red, Blue, Green and Yellow versions in Japan would be coming to the Wii U Virtual Console next year, with the Western equivalents coming as well.

Limited edition Nintendo 2DS's were announced for Japan as a bundle with the Game Boy titles, each game getting a like-colored equivalent.

They will arrive at retailers in Japan on February 27, 2016 at the suggested retail price of 9,980 yen or about $99 (the current price of the system now).

Each 2DS bundle will come with the following:

  • A digital copy of the Virtual Console game software
  • 4 GB SDHC memory card
  • Town map
  • Download code for an original HOME Menu theme
  • Download code for Mew
  • Original sticker set

Mew will be available for the original Pokémon games as well as either Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire or Pokémon X and Y. Mew as it will appear in the latter games can be seen below:
