Sony Computer Entertainment and Square Enix announced during the livestreamed reading of the patch notes of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn update 2.2 "Through the Maelstorm," plans for the release of a limited edition HD drive bay cover for the PS4 customized of the game on it.

The new patch was implemented on the servers today, and brings a large amount of new content to Square Enix's successful Final Fantasy MMORPG.

Details on the release date and price are still undecided, but pre-orders will be made available this April at the Japanese Sony store. The logo is laser-etched on the plastic cover with a nice three dimensional effect.

The item will be produced only in 1,400 units, and follows the release of similar covers for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and Yakuza Ishin. This gives us hope that more will come, and hopefully the initiative will also extend to the western market sooner or later.
