Limited Run Games released a new update on the state of the physical release of Skullgirls on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.

After the release faced many delays and the most recent update given in May from publisher Autumn Games, Limited Run Games has confirmed that the PlayStation 4 edition has now entered manufacturing. However, the publisher continues by adding that Sony is currently manufacturing many games right now and this could take longer than usual. For this reason, they do not have a solid release date on when the PlayStation 4 version will be available, but guessed that they will not receive it until the end of September. They continue to say that, "once the game is in-hand, shipping will begin immediately".

Sadly, this is not the case for the PlayStation Vita version as it is still undergoing certification by Sony. The process is being held up due to the version having to be completely reworked and the Japanese VO added along with the latest patch. This is not the same process that the PlayStation 4 version has to go through, so there is currently no set release window for the PlayStation Vita version until after it has exited certification, which could still need work from the developer to make sure everything is functional on the build.

For those who purchased a PlayStation 4 and PS Vita combo pack, the PlayStation 4 copy will be sent out first unless the PS Vita version passes certification quick enough to arrive from the factory in September.

The main reason for the delay was the Japanese VO license contract which is in the last stages of getting signed. These additional voice options were one of the larger selling points of the physical copy pre-order as 10,000 unique sales would unlock this feature only found on the Japan release.
