Linux Version of Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition “Getting Closer”

PC users are already preloading Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition, but there are some good news even for those that like to play games on their Linux system.

A couple months ago we reported Overhaul Games was looking at the possibility of a Linux version of the game. Today Creative Director Trent Oster confirmed on his Twitter account that the port is still under legal scrutiny, but specified that it’s “getting closer”.

The Linux version is still in Legal drafts. It is getting closer though.

He didn’t provide any further detail, and we don’t know how close is “closer”, but it’s definitely good to know that the project is still running and moving towards a result.

Personally, I’m just about ready for a blast from the past (to be more precise, I’m already enjoying the Windows version, and you can expect a review soon). I can’t say that I didn’t miss the simplicity of AD&D 2nd Edition, and that I won’t be happy to play it on my Linux-based laptop.
