Like the good and bad dynamics that the Fable series is known for, it seems today brings a little bit of good and bad news for the fans of the long-running RPG franchise following the announcement of Fable Legends earlier this week at Gamescom.

Lionhead Studios, the developer behind the Fable series, has announced that there will be a beta of the upcoming Fable Legends made available for players to test the game in 2014. In their official forum, Lionhead explained more about the beta:

“We will release new and more information about the game on our website, including opportunities for beta testing the game in 2014. Make sure to sign up to be kept in the loop as we will release more information throughout the coming weeks and months.”

In addition, Lionhead also seemed to address rumors or confusion on whether Fable Legends would be releasing as quote unquote “Fable IV,” or if there would even be a fourth game at all (for the time being). In the forum, Lionhead mentioned:

Fable Legends is the only Fable core game in development, and we have no plans to make a sequel to Fable III.”

Fable Legends was announced this past Tuesday at Gamescom as an Xbox One-exclusive with a currently unknown release date.
