Check Out Loading Times On Xbox Series S Compared to Xbox One S

Even though the Xbox Series S is as powerful as the Xbox Series X, it will still be loading games much quicker thanks to the addition of the new SSD.

September 18, 2020

As we have seen in the past, the new SSD inside the Xbox Series X will massively cut load times on the new console. But how about the consoles less powerful little brother, the Xbox Series S? Well, Xbox has uploaded a video comparing the load times on the Series S compared to the One S and there is still a significant difference.

In the video, we are shown a Series S and One S loading The Outer Worlds side by side. The Series S loads the game in just under 11 seconds while the One takes over 53 seconds. As you can see, even on the less powerful next-gen Xbox, your games will be loading much quicker. You can take a look for yourself in the video below.

While everyone is excited about running games at 4k 60 FPS, I think I might be more excited about cutting down load times. Hell, there is so much that developers can do now that next-gen consoles are using solid-state drives. I think I might be most excited about developers not having to include cracks to squeeze through or elevators to be used just so that the game can load the next area of the game. It might be a little nitpick, but every time it happens I can’t help but think, “I know why you are making me do this.”

The Xbox Series X and Series S are set to release in just under two months on November 10, two days before the release of the PS5. Pre-orders for the consoles will go live on September 22. As we saw with the PS5, make sure to be on your A-game if you want to secure a pre-order of the Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S because they might go quickly.
