Who or What Is Alioth?

The character of Alioth is more of an ‘it’ than he or she, it is a transtemporal entity that exists across divergent timelines as a giant purple cloud. Destroying anything it touches, it causes devastation across the whole dimension.

In the Marvel comic books, Alioth is the first being to break free from the constraints of time; it then began to grow in power and strength. Alioth was able to conquer all time periods apart from Kang the Conqueror’s, as a temporary barrier blocked the entity from entering the realm.

Alioth was able to enter Kang’s world, Chronopolis, after Terminatrix took over the empire and accidentally allowed the giant entity to enter. Kang and Terminatrix then enlisted the help of the mighty Avengers to help defeat Alioth.

After the Avengers and Tempus were able to hold Alioth at bay, all was well. Until Kang decided to release Alioth to eliminate the Council. Alioth then broke into the Time Variance Authority’s realm and began causing chaos, destroying everything.

Alioth grows in size and power after it absorbs time traveller’s bodies into its own mass. Once a timeline is occupied by Alioth, it will then begin spreading into other realities close by.
