Merge Games and Painted Black Games have announced The Long Reach's release date.

In the horror adventure game, you will play as Calvin — which may or may not be a lie according to the press release — as you solve puzzles, run, and hide in the fictional and nightmarish town of Baervox, New Hampshire. This nightmare is due to a revolutionary system designed by a scientific institute that can transfer knowledge at an accelerated rate. Unfortunately, the technology went out of control and with the experiment's participants affected in terrible ways.

Announced last June, The Long Reach is inspired by Lone Survivor, The Cave, Resident Evil, The Matrix, True Detective, Fargo, and The Last Door. The game will feature unsettling handmade pixel art, atmospheric music, and a story that brings together a variety of genres such as horror, thriller, and sci-fi. It will also include more than 12,000 words in dialog, about twenty main and background characters, and more than fifty locations.

Back in August of last year, the game's soundtrack was made available to the public on Bandcamp.

The Long Reach will launch on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch on March 14th, 2018 for $14.99/€14.99/£12.99. The physical version — known as the Signature Edition — will also be available for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita for £25.
