Today's Inside Xbox was full of big announcements from several of Microsoft's biggest third party sponsors. One game was a bit of surprise given what's coming in the next few weeks. EA will hold another EA Play event this June but decided to give everyone a sneak peek at Madden 21 today. Obviously, they're holding most of the reveal back for their own event; however, it was still fun to see Kermit the Frog...I mean Patrick Mahomes pop up on our screens for a few minutes.

Again, there's not much here. The on-field product looks great visually on Xbox Series X, which is no surprise. However, the things that really matter (modes, gameplay, etc.) won't show up for another month at least. That said, the look back at Madden through the years was pretty great.

It will be fun to see what EA brings to Madden 21 at EA Play. Madden 20 brought X-Factors abilities but didn't do much to flesh out the game modes after dropping the Longshots story mode. Generally, as we head into new consoles, you tend to see developers focus on fewer modes in the name of pushing graphics and getting a handle on the new architecture. Hopefully, the team is able to do more than that, given how underwhelming most of the modes were last season.

That all being said, we'll know for sure in a few short weeks. Expect to see tons more Madden 21 news here when EA Play hits on June 11. The game will launch later this year (likely August) on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. You'll be able to upgrade your Xbox One version to  Xbox Series X once it launches.
