It has been more than a year since Sony confirmed the closing of Zipper Interactive, but the final nail in the coffin for the game creator is coming soon. Sony confirmed today that servers for the last two games developed by Zipper, MAG and SOCOM 4: US Navy SEALs, are being shut down. Another casualty was SOCOM: US Navy SEALs Confrontation, developed by Slant Six Games. The news was released on PlayStation's offical Twitter account.

With SOCOM having such a passionate fan base, do not be surprised to see an internet petition coming to plead with Sony to save the servers. However, I doubt it will do much good. So fans of the series and MAG (if fans of that game exist) better get their online fix in the next six months because January 28 is closer than you think.
