Publisher Wizards of the Coast has announced that Optimus Prime and other Transformers will be added to Magic: The Gathering Arena as part of the upcoming The Brother's War expansion, which is set to release on November 18.The crossover between the two franchises was announced at Hasbro's PulseCon event, showcasing what form the Transformers cards, including the iconic characters Optimus Prime and Starscream as well as their comrades, will be featured in Collector's boosters and The Brother's War decks.This also marks the first 'Universal Beyond' set that will be available in the normal packs mentioned below. However, they will not be included in draft boosters. It was revealed that all these crossover cards will be two-sided, allowing players to switch between vehicle and robot forms to differentiate their strategies. Fans can get their hands on some prominent Autobots and Decepticons, such as Starscream, Optimus Prime, Slicer, and more. The cards that have been revealed during the event are:

  • Optimus Prime, Autobot Leader / Optimus Prime, Hero
  • Flamewar, Streetwise Operative / Flamewar, Brash Veteran
  • Soundwave, Superior Captain / Soundwave, Sonic Spy
  • Starscream, Seeker Leader / Starscream, Power Hungry
  • Slicer, High-Speed Antagonist / Slicer, Hired Muscle
  • Goldbug, Scrappy Scout / Goldbug, Humanity’s Ally

Two new mechanics that crossover cards will have, More Than Meets the Eye and Living Metal, were also announced. More Than Meets the Eye allows players to use the cards in their vehicle form, while Living Metal lets players turn these vehicles into artifact creatures.

Hasbro stated that the second part of the deck will be revealed at today's PulseCon showcase, which is scheduled to start at 1 PM ET. Magic: The Gathering brand panel will kick off at 3 PM ET following the Avalon Hill brand panel. More information regarding the event can be found here.
