Mamotte Knight Switch Coming on October 10, New Trailer and Details

Yuzo Koshiro's new Gotta Protectors game for Switch, Susume!! Mamotte Knight: Hime no Totsugeki Serenade, launches on October 10.

Ancient revealed Susume!! Mamotte Knight: Hime no Totsugeki Serenade will be launching on Switch in Japan on October 10. Only a digital version is coming and it’ll be priced at 1980 Yen, tax included. The game only had an “October 2019” release date until now. The game was announced in the west for a 2020 release, but it’s not the kind of game where you need to know Japanese to play anyway.

Susume!! Mamotte Knight: Hime no Totsugeki Serenade is the latest game of the 3DS series localized in the west as Gotta Protectors. As a reminder, Ancient is led by legendary composer Yuzo Koshiro, who worked on Streets of Rage among tons of other things.

Here are the new details we learned through these explanative screenshots Ancient published on Twitter. We’re still on a tower defense where you need to protect a princess. Susume!! Mamotte Knight has over 100 stages. You get to upgrade yourself every 4 stages with the money you earned. You can upgrade either your stats, your skills’ levels, the levels of the barricades, or the princess’ HP.  There are four different levels of difficulty and 8 initially playable characters each with their own skills. There are over 1000 hidden unlockable characters too.

One of the new additions in this game is being able to class change your character at any time by pressing L and R simultaneously. It takes time to charge, but has unlimited use, making it easier to adapt to situation changes.

The music is handled by Yuzo Koshiro, who used an actual NES to record the tracks. The game’s OP song, in particular, was handled by Hydden.

Susume!! Mamotte Knight: Hime no Totsugeki Serenade supports up to four players in local or online co-op. The series is great to play with friends, so it’s nice to see it coming to Switch.

Susume!! Mamotte Knight: Hime no Totsugeki Serenade was announced by Yuzo Koshiro back in December 2018. Back then, Koshiro also announced a new Switch RPG titled Ouritsu Anapako Gakuen, you can read all about that here.

Susume!! Mamotte Knight: Hime no Totsugeki Serenade’s sole trailer is included below.
