Though Maneater doesn't wash up on shores until May 22nd for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, Deep Silver released a new launch trailer showcasing more of that gory goodness starring our favorite blood thirsty and surprisingly talented shark:

Maneater is an open world RPG that lets players swim around the sea in the southern US Gulf Coast while fighting against other sharks, humans and other creatures of the deep waters. As a shark with full freedom to go where you want you can get into the rivers and streams, or just hang around in the open waters.

The main premise is that you play as a giant bull shark after revenge against a human being that murdered its mother and left it for dead after being cut out from its mother's body. By allowing said shark to feed on anything, players are able to evolve specific body parts to improve how those parts function. There’s a variety of stat driven systems in place that lets you customize the shark to suit your play style.

Maneater's first sighting was back in 2017, when an early access trailer was revealed. It then made waves in 2018 with more screenshots and  in a more recent trailer that debuted during The Game Awards last year, showing off new footage.

If you're interested in the game, read up on why we think Maneater is the "Shark-PG you never knew you wanted in your life." You can also check out over three minutes of gameplay of Maneater just below and see some of the exploration and gameplay mechanics in action:

Maneater will release for PC through an exclusive deal with Epic Games store, PS4, and Xbox One. And later this year will be coming for Nintendo Switch, though that release date hasn't been revealed at this time.
