While the Switch's 2021 line-up so far isn't packed with many heavy hitters, Nintendo seems to be focusing on finetuning some of their cult classic franchises.

Most recently, New Pokemon Snap arrived and was met with critical acclaim, and now, we're on the cusp of getting a brand new Mario Golf game, titled Mario Golf: Super Rush.

The title was first revealed a couple of months back, during Nintendo's return to the Direct showcase format, and now, we've got a better look at the game, including every Mario Golf: Super Rush character, a range of courses and different modes.

What to Expect From Mario Golf: Super Rush Based off this trailer.

16 Characters

Nintendo has revealed that Mario Golf: Super Rush will have an impressive roster of 16 different characters, each with their own unique skills and abilities.

The roster features some of the Mushroom Kingdom's most popular characters, as well as a few wildcards that Nintendo regularly throws into the mix for these sorts of games.

The full roster is as follows:

  • Mario
  • Luigi
  • Wario
  • Waluigi
  • Peach
  • Daisy
  • Yoshi
  • Bowser
  • Bowser Jr.
  • Boo
  • Donkey Kong
  • Rosalina
  • Pauline
  • Toad
  • Chargin’ Chuck
  • King Bob-omb

Each character is split across one of five different categories - Speed, Power, Control, Spin or All Around.

Varied Courses

While Nintendo hasn't shown off many different courses as of yet, we have seen a few familiar Mushroom Kingdom locales.

There's a standard lush green golf course, a course based around one of the many deserts seen in the Mario world, a course based on Bowser's Castle (of course) and a forest-based level.

Speed Golf

One of the most exciting features of Mario Golf: Super Rush is the new Speed Golf round.

This was first teased during the Nintendo Direct and now, we've had an even better look at it.

Rather than traditional golf, all players tee off at the same time in a mad rush to sink their ball first.

Players can earn a variety of different items and power-ups that will help them during their matches and things are sure to get chaotic.

Mii Characters, Mario Golf Battle Mode and more

The new trailer also revealed tons more exciting information.

There will be a full story mode in which players can take their Mii's on a golfing journey, levelling up as they go. It looks like Nintendo's take on the indie gem Golf Story.

A Battle Mode, in which players tee off at the same time, competing to sink their ball in any of the nine immediately available holes, with the first player to score three winning.

Nintendo also confirmed that Mario Golf will have online play and motion controls.
