We've known about Nintendo's upcoming Mario Kart mobile game for a while now. In fact, Mario Kart Tour was originally set to launch last March before being pushed back to a more ambiguous "summer 2019" release window. The team finally announced the launch date this morning on the game's new Twitter account. Fortunately, we won't have to wait long to try it out, as the game is due to be out at the tail end of next month.

Details outside of the release date are slim. As you can see in the tweet above, we can expect more details in the weeks to come, but for now, we only have reports from the beta test to give us an idea of what to expect. Obviously, things can change drastically from beta to release; however, there was a bit of concern about how much Mario Kart Tour leans into pay-to-win mechanics. Hopefully, the team learned from that early test and has made some changes to curtail those mechanics to some degree.

That said, Nintendo has released a number of money-making apps over the last few years. Most recently, Dr. Mario World hit 2 million downloads in its first 72 hours in the wild. And games like Fire Emblem Heroes have consistently brought in a tidy sum for the Big N. Either way, we should know exactly what to expect as the team pulls back the curtain on the game as we near its September launch.

Mario Kart Tour will release for Android and iPhone on September 25.
