Nintendo released another trailer for Mario Sports Superstars, this time featuring the game's brand new horse racing mode.

The game's European site gave the following overview of the mode:

Horse Racing

Leap into the saddle of your very own race horse and don’t stop ‘til you’ve cleared the final furlong. In this high-speed sport, you’ll go neck-and-neck with other racers as you dodge obstacles, leap over hazards and dash to the finish line. Up to six players can race together via Local Play or jump online.

And they’re off!

Choose your jockey and horse, then speed around 12 different courses set in four distinct areas, each with its own look and feel. Tracks are littered with useful pick-ups, like stamina-replenishing carrots and special-building Stars, so there’s plenty of opportunity to giddy-up and get ahead.

Once you’ve grabbed enough Stars, unleash your Star Dash to get an incredible speed boost and rush to the front of the pack. You can even perform double jumps to reach high-up items and get the upper hand on the opposition.

Stick together

Naturally, you’ll be eager to get to the front of the pack, but don’t get too far ahead – horses actually run faster when they’re galloping together. This phenomenon is known as the Herd Effect, and it means that streaming off way out in front is a bad idea. Steady yourself, stay with the chasing pack and use your dash wisely.

Take a break

After an exhausting race, head to the Stable and reward your trusty steed with some well-deserved R&R. You can feed, pet, and brush your horse, or if you fancy an open-air stroll, why not take it for a walk? By looking after your horse and keeping it in tip-top condition, you’ll improve its Mood, so it’ll perform better on race day. You can unlock new accessories for it to wear, too!

Additionally, Mario Sports Superstars has its own line of amiibo cards, which add special bonuses to the game. They will be available in packs of five for $4.99 USD, and the game will ship with one amiibo card packaged in for a limited time after launch. You can also check out the trailers for the game's baseball, soccer, and golf modes.

You can watch the trailer below. Mario Sports Superstars will be available on March 10 in Europe and on March 24 in North America exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS.
