Nintendo has released a new software update for Mario Strikers: Battle League, introducing two playable characters as well as a new area to play in, the Planetoid Stadium. Although the update, released September 21, mainly focuses on a few adjustments to enhance the player experience, the main draw is the addition of new characters Pauline and Diddy Kong, who are now available to play as part of the roster. The last time Mario Strikers: Battle League received an update was August 15.

Version 1.2.0 of Mario Strikers: Battle League contains several features intended to provide a better gameplay experience. For instance, the Striker Rankings section has been added to the main menu, showcasing a skill score calculated by comparing players' individual abilities over a period of time. The score rises and falls depending on their performance in online matches, excluding Battle Friends. Players can also customize supporters in the stadium, and they can spend coins to view fireworks, which go off to celebrate their goals and victories. Both features mentioned above will be enabled by heading to the Club Management section. Moreover, players can develop unique strategies to pressure their competitors with the new Barrel Gear set.

Nintendo provided some guidance so that players can properly receive the update. First off, you will require a Nintendo Switch Online membership to download the version 1.2.0 update. The update will be downloaded automatically if your device is connected to the Internet. However, as your data will be secured anyhow, you can also initiate the download manually. Lastly, all players must use the same version of the game in order to play together, so make sure your friends download the update before diving into multiplayer action.

Players will also receive some ease-of-use changes with the software update. The developer team has adjusted the match-making system in online matches and the order of characters when you switch them during the match. You can check out the full patch notes from the official Nintendo website.
