The most predictable announcement coming into today’s Nintendo Direct was that we would see a release date for the recently-revealed Mario Tennis Aces — you know, given that Aces was the only game confirmed to make an appearance when the Direct was unveiled. Thankfully, Nintendo did not disappoint; Mario Tennis Aces will be coming to Nintendo Switch on June 22, 2018.

News comes by way of today’s Nintendo Direct, which had a primary focus on the Mario-themed sports game. In the Direct, they explicitly revealed that we should be seeing the game in a little under three months.

If you weren’t even aware that a Mario Tennis game was coming to Nintendo Switch, don’t feel bad. The news was only revealed two months ago at the headlining 2018 Nintendo Direct celebrating the anniversary of Nintendo Switch’s formal reveal. The biggest headlining change is an introduction of a story mode — a new feature for the Mario Tennis formula.

When it was revealed, Nintendo made a point of highlighting a Spring 2018 launch window, but a specific release date was never explicitly mentioned. The last time Mario and his friends played tennis was on 2015’s Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash for the Wii U.

As mentioned above, Mario Tennis Aces is coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch on June 22, 2018.
