Mars Red, one of the most atypical anime of the Spring 2021 season, originating from a stage play, is ongoing with more vampire action - here's the release date and time for Episode 4, alongside preview screenshots.

Mars Red is a very peculiar project, as the anime is adapting a manga, which itself adapted a stage play. So it's originally a story with real actresses and actors. Anime series are usually originally based on a manga or novel, so that's a very rare case.

The director of the series is Kouhei Hatano, who worked as an Episode Director on many different series from Tiger & Bunny to Bodacious Space Pirates. The scriptwriter of Mars Red is Junichi Fujisaku, who also works on Moriarty the Patriot.

Let's take a look at this week's Mars Red episode.

More on Mars Red

Mars Red is set in an alternate version of 1920, where vampires coexist with humanity. Vampires are suddenly rising in numbers though, and special soldiers unit Code Zero is investigating the cause.

Except Code Zero is also made of vampires. We follow the story of Kurusu Shuutarou (voiced by Tasuku Hatanaka) as he finds himself becoming a vampire and getting enlisted in Code Zero.

The series is definitely worthwhile so far. It's one of the sleeper hits of the season, with shows like Fairy Ranmaru. As a side note, follow Studio Signal MD on Twitter as it regularly reveals animation frames:
