New details on Capcom's recently revealed Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite were shared today courtesy of the company's blog.

In addition to the single-player arcade, training, mission, and story modes, 2v2 team battles have been confirmed to be making a comeback to the series. Players will also be able to choose one of the six powerful Infinity Stones from the Marvel universe to influence the outcome of battle.

Each Infinity Stone will work differently depending on what character you use, influencing their abilities in combat.

Online modes like ranked and casual matches, global leaderboards, and online lobbies with spectator mode will make a return as well, all while running with Unreal Engine 4 technology.

Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite comes after a long five year wait, as Marvel vs. Capcom 3 released in February 2011, taking clear inspiration from the Marvel cinematic universe. The game's debut trailer can be found here.

The title will be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2017.
