Marvel’s Avengers Gameplay Footage to be Shown at San Diego Comic-Con Panel for Attendees Only
Sadly, only those in attendance at Hall H will be able to see the gameplay of Marvel's Avengers.
At long last, it seems like Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics are ready to show some gameplay from Marvel’s Avengers to the general public. The only problem is that those who won’t be attending San Diego Comic-Con later this month won’t be able to see it for themselves.
In a new press release that was sent out from Square Enix today, the publisher detailed its plans for SDCC in just a few short weeks. In the process, Square further talked about its previously announced panel that will feature Marvel’s Avengers. And as many hoped, Square also confirmed that gameplay footage of the game would indeed be shown during the event. Unfortunately, though, this reveal will be exclusive to those who are actually attending the panel in-person.
Here’s what the full description of the panel stated:
Join Shaun Escayg, Creative Director at Crystal Dynamics, and the performance cast of Marvel’s Avengers for a special presentation that will include new information and the first public gameplay reveal for Hall H attendees only.
So while it seems like those watching at home will be able to glean some new information from Marvel’s Avengers, the actual gameplay will not be shown via live stream. To be honest, that kind of sucks.
I find it weird how Square is keeping the gameplay from Marvel’s Avengers under wraps this much. I know it’s kind of a Comic-Con tradition to show exclusive goodies to those fans who attend in-person, but at this point, I don’t understand why Square wouldn’t just release the first gameplay footage from Marvel’s Avengers for all to see.
If it makes you feel better, the footage that I’m assuming Square will show fans at SDCC also isn’t anything to write home about. If it’s the same sequence that I saw at E3 2019, it’ll probably be underwhelming for some. You can check out my full preview from E3 last month if you’d like to hear more of my thoughts on the gameplay footage that I’ve been able to see.
Sooner or later, you’d assume Square will release gameplay footage to the public, but if you were hoping SDCC would be the time in which that reveal happens, sounds like you’ll have to keep waiting.
Marvel’s Avengers is set to launch next year on May 15, 2020, for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia.
