In a report from US Gamer, Marvel's Avengers hasn't made back its development costs after launching this past September."In addition to the amortization of the game's development costs, another significant factor associated with [Marvel's Avengers] was the fact that we undertook a major advertising campaign at the time of its launch to make up for delays in our marketing efforts resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic," said Square-Enix president Yosuke Masuda in a quarterly meeting. "There is a certain amount of development costs still to be amortized in 3Q, but we want to recoup it by growing our sales going forward."First announced in 2017, Marvel's Avengers released this September to mixed reviews, including DualShockers' own Ryan Meitzler. Shortly after launch, Square-Enix released a patch for the game which fixed over 1,000 bugs and issues. That being said, Marvel's Avengers still remained on top as September's best-selling game according to NPD. As Masuda points out in the call, Square-Enix hopes to improve the game's sales to increase its profitability.

More recently, Square-Enix announced that Kate Bishop would be a new playable character starting on December 8. Other characters reportedly coming include She-Hulk and War Machine. Additionally, Spider-Man will be added next year exclusively for PlayStation players followed by Clint Barton's Hawkeye. The game was also supposed to release on next-gen consoles by the end of this year but it's been delayed to 2021. If you want to play it sooner, there are Black Friday sales for it including from Amazon at $26.99.

Marvel's Avengers is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and PC. Next-gen versions of the game will release sometime next year. As more news comes out on upcoming content, we'll be sure to let you know. You can watch a trailer below on Kate Bishop below.
