Later in 2021, Daybreak Games announced that they were working on a Marvel-based MMO title, but the project was canceled recently. If you wonder what it was supposed to look like, here are some in-game screenshots.

Marvel has been pretty open about discussing gaming projects with various developers around the world. Thus far, the company has agreed to co-operate with multiple publishers such as Sony, Square Enix, and 2K on delivering unique experiences based on Marvel's universe.

Following this policy, Marvel reached an agreement with Daybreak Games and its mother company, EG7, on developing an MMO experience, but the project was canceled a few weeks earlier by EG7.

Recently, the UI/UX designer behind the project shared some in-game screenshots from the game's character creation and customization menu that reveals more about its unique features.

Marvel's Cancelled MMO Was Supposed to Feature X-Men, Avengers, SHIELD, and Fantastic Four As Playable Factions

According to the screenshots shared by Ramiro Galan, the MMO project was supposed to feature visuals similar to the Spider-Man Into the Spiderverse movie.

As the images suggest, players would be able to choose from four available factions when creating their very own character, including X-Men, Avengers, SHIELD, and Fantastic Four. Later on, players would get the option to change the appearance of their character as well as select their desired superpower.

Unfortunately, there are no gameplay screenshots among the shared images, but the existing ones already reveal Daybreak's pretty unique approach to designing this Marvel-based MMO experience.

It's yet to be seen whether Marvel would suggest the MMO project to another studio or publisher in the future, but even if it happens, the visuals and art direction could be pretty different compared to the one shown above.
