Another week, another Marvel's Midnight Suns gameplay showcase. This time it was for one of the brand's most beloved characters, Spider-Man. Like the prior videos in the series, the presentation goes over Spider-Man's style of combat, the optimal strategy for playing him, and some of his most effective moves. It also shows a short clip of your avatar character, The Hunter, playing some video games with him in the heroes' home-base, as you try to get closer to him via dialogue options.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns was first announced in August 2021, and it will have your favorite Marvel heroes taking on a new and unforeseen threat, Lilith, the Mother of Demons, that has managed to recruit her own powerful fighters such as Venom and The Hulk. The game, being developed by Firaxis Games (Civilization), is a turn-based card-based tactical strategy RPG, which will feature a customizable protagonist called The Hunter, through which the player can talk to the other heroes and build relationships with them.

Spider-Man's gameplay emphasizes movement around the terrain and usage of the environment. He's described by ChristopherOdd, the YouTuber running the showcase, as more of a utility character since his damage isn't the highest. The prior presentations taught us about Heroism, the very valuable resource that is used for what can be deemed this game's ultimate abilities, the Heroic Cards. However, Heroism is also used for environmental attacks. This is Spider-Man's bread and butter, with how he jumps over obstacles to pack a stronger punch or chucks them at the enemies to make them fly back. Therefore, he has several ways to mitigate Heroism cost.

Spider-Man has a card that makes his next two environmental attacks cost no Heroism, while his passive gives him a 15% chance that his Heroism will be refunded after any environmental attack. Furthermore, some of his cards grant him extra movement throughout the battlefield, so you can position yourself in perfect spots to use the terrain's objects effectively. One of the coolest abilities shown in the video was one called Chain Strike, which had Spidey pulling himself with his web from enemy to enemy throughout the terrain.

This Chain Strike ability only lets him continue the chain if he keeps knocking out bad guys, making Spider-Man a good character to have in fights against big mobs with low health. Furthermore, his Heroic Card, Infernal Spider, makes his next three cards free to use, so you can further maximize his utility by moving him around, moving around your enemies, or binding them with your webs.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns releases on October 7, 2022, for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
