We’re a little over a month away from the launch of Marvel’s Spider-Man in early September and today, developer Insomniac Games has announced that they are now ready to start preparing the game to ship.

Insomniac announced via Twitter this morning that Marvel’s Spider-Man has now officially gone gold. This means they will now start preparing this content complete version of the game to be printed on physical discs for shipping while the studio likely begins working on additional content or a day one patch.

In addition to the announcement, Insomniac also released a pretty funny image of Spider-Man sitting behind a desk which you might find familiar as the original image is from the old Spider-Man cartoon and in the last decade or so has become a popular meme. Check it out in the full tweet at the bottom of this page.

We got to finally go hands-on with Marvel’s Spider-Man for an extended period of time recently and we should be able to share our thoughts with you on what we played soon. In the meantime, be sure to check out our recent feature on the various suits we’d like to see in the game as well as our breakdown of the most recent story trailer.

In case you weren’t already counting down the days, Marvel’s Spider-Man releases on September 7 for the PS4. If you still haven’t pre-ordered the game yet, you can do so on Amazon right now.
