What If? Episode 1 Recap

In the first ‘What If?’ episode, we saw Peggy Carter picking up Captain America’s shield.

Apparently, in this alternate timeline, Peggy decided to stay for Steve Rogers’ transformation. Also, in the original timeline, Hydra agent Heinz Kruger launched his attack after Steve got the super-soldier serum. However, this goes differently in this new timeline where he launches his attack before Steve’s transformation. So, Peggy Carter has to step forward to become Captain Carter.

We see Red Skull messing with the Tessaract and Peggy Carter trying to stop him with Steven Rogers and Bucky Barnes, who doesn’t lose his hand in this timeline. On the other hand, Steve helps his comrades by putting the HYDRA Stomper, made by Howard Stark.

To complete his dream of world domination, Red Skull unleashes an interdimensional monster and calls it the Champion of HYDRA. Of course, we see Peggy Carter putting an end to Red Skull’s madness. However, unlike getting frozen in ice for years, she gets stuck in a portal while pushing the Champion back to where he came from. However, in the end, Nick Fury and Hawkeye do pull her back to the world.
